In light of escalating cyber threats, Microsoft has rolled out two robust security products, Microsoft Entra Internet Access and Microsoft Entra Private Access, aiming to bolster digital interactions’ safety across the globe. This move follows an alarming surge in password attacks over the last year, emphasizing the pressing need for advanced security measures.
Microsoft’s Entra Internet Access, an identity-centric Secure Web Gateway, is devised to shield internet, software as a service (SaaS), and Microsoft 365 apps from malicious online traffic, enhancing overall security and user experience. This product extends Conditional Access policies, ensuring seamless and faster access to critical Microsoft 365 apps, thus propelling productivity.
On the flip side, Microsoft Entra Private Access, embracing the Zero Trust Network Access philosophy, ensures secure connections to private apps and resources from any device, anywhere. This modernized security solution aims to replace legacy VPNs, reducing operational intricacy and cost, while offering a more granular security framework.
Moreover, the Microsoft Entra product family has further expanded with a renaming strategy, morphing Microsoft Azure Active Directory to Microsoft Entra ID, a move to unify and simplify the product naming structure without altering existing deployments or integrations.
Besides bolstering security, Microsoft also focuses on enhancing identity governance and real-time identity protection. The newly launched Microsoft Entra ID Governance dashboard and Microsoft Entra ID Protection dashboard provide insights and recommendations, enabling organizations to preemptively thwart identity-related vulnerabilities, a common exploit for cyber attackers.
With the vision of creating a secure digital ecosystem for all users, Microsoft continues to invest in developing sophisticated tools to outpace cyber adversaries. The expanded Microsoft Entra product family showcases Microsoft’s unwavering commitment to securing a multitude of digital connections occurring every second globally, making the digital realm safer for individuals and organizations alike.
